Friden 1116 Advertisement
Nation's Business Magazine, March, 1971
This is an advertisement for the
Friden 1116
calculator, a machine marketed by the Friden division of Singer Company
that was designed and manufactured in Japan by Hitachi. The 1116
was marketed by Friden under an agreement with Hitachi whereby
Hitachi would provide calculators that it designed and manufactured
in Japan, with cabinetry and color schemes specified by Singer, and
Singer would sell the machine under its Friden brand in its markets
world-wide. The Hitachi version of the 1116 was sold by Hitachi in
Japan as the ELCA-26. The Friden 1116 was introduced in the US in
August of 1970.
